My name is Dalton Schlitters, I am a 32 year old man living in Fenton, MI. I have a wide range of professional experience ranging from industrial automation and robotics, real estate, to landscaping, as well as creating a small farm where I managed all aspects of the operation of growing gourmet mushrooms as well as microgreens for one season. We ended up selling to a few grocery stores, farmers markets, and were attempting to create partnerships with restaurants as well. I am passionate about learning and farming.
My future farming plans and expectations would be to learn everything I can about operating a market farm at a full production scale.
My vision consists of organic farming with a variety of crops/plants/flowers, possibly a gourmet mushroom operation, as well as creating some unique products utilizing vermiculture and compost for creating supersoil amendments/selling worms as bait to charter fishing companies and fishing tackle stores. I am also interested in the idea of a tree farm/growing plants for selling wholesale to landscaping companies.
My entrepreneurial skills, knowledge of optimizing processes, and experience working as a farmhand on a tree farm, as well as a small farm owner would help me as I am building my operation - even though I am still very much a beginner.
