Goals, Values, Vision
We would ultimately like to find our forever farm. Land is so expensive which prohibits us from expanding and making our vision a reality.
Our vision includes:
• 2-5 acres of fertile soil to expand our market garden. We grow and sell at farmers markets and have an established and thriving CSA program. Our “first love” is our farm stand serving our local community. We would to have a space to expand a farm stand to a little shop where our local community can find fresh food (including meat, produce, baked goods) as well as handmade goods from other local artisans.
• We would also love to expand our beef herd and have a space set up to allow us obtain proper licensing that would be needed to sell retail beef, chicken, and pork. We would ideally have acreage suitable for rotational grazing pastures and hay fields to cut as well.
• Once established we would love to open our farm to the community for education, classes, workshops, field trips, and fun. We feel passionately about agricultural education and want to not only feed our local community but also educate kids (and adults) about where food comes from, how to grow it, and how to preserve it.
• We would welcome the opportunity to have fruit trees and learn about beekeeping.
About us:
We are parents to three adult kids, dogs, chickens, and cows. We have been long time volunteers in 4H, FFA, and the Genesee County Ag Society.
Rich grew up on a dairy farm and showing livestock in his local 4H. He is an aspiring full time farmer, but has spent his adult life as a blue collar worker. He currently works in the dewatering industry.
Stephanie spent nearly 20yrs as a registered nurse before she left her career and discovered her love for growing produce and formed what became our CSA and market farm.
