Vision for the Farm
We’re looking for the right person or family to carry this farm forward.
This is a working regenerative organic farm with a healthy, established eco-system that’s already producing high-quality food. Just as important as growing it, we put real effort into marketing and selling that food well—building strong relationships and making sure what we produce reaches the people who value it. The soil, crops, and overall biological balance are in good shape, and the business side is an active part of the operation.
We’re hoping to find someone who wants to keep building on what’s here. It’s important that both the farming systems and the marketing work be respected and strengthened over time.
Past/Current Land Usage
Acreage description
The farm has been certified organic since 2010. The farm has permanent fencing around the exterior with cross fences for rotational grazing. There are cross ditches for drainage in the spring where there may be water but most of the year it's dry. The land is flat making it totally tillable. About 5 acres in the middle is the homestead with multiple barns.
Description of the property’s current condition, current use(s), and past use(s)
Currently the farm is set up for rotational grazing (90 acres) being rotated about every 5 years to row crops. Row crops are hay/pasture, open pollinated corn, 20 varieties of dry beans and heritage grains for direct marketing through multiple farm markets.
Additional Information
The farmland is preserved through Ottawa County Farmland Preservation forever. Conservation stewardship program is also being used. The farm has been certified in The Real Organic Project since 2020, and is MAEAP verified.
Soil Type(s)
Primarily sandy loam soil, with slightly heavier soils in some fields. Whole farm has a fairly high water table.
Soil Types Gm, Gn, CovabB, Pr
Transition Agreement
Farm Seeker/Farm Owner Partnership, Mentorship, Working arrangement with future partner
We offer six-week unpaid internships for people who want hands-on experience on a regenerative organic farm. Interns take part in the daily work and see how the farm operates.
If it’s a good fit for both sides, the internship could lead to a paid position. From there, we would work toward a longer-term succession plan with the right person.
A full transition will take several years. During that time, the priority is learning how the land has been managed and why systems are set up the way they are. Questions and ideas are welcome, but major changes would come later.
If you’re serious about regenerative farming and willing to commit for the long term, we’re open to a conversation.
