Goals, Values, Vision

Goals

Establish a small fruit, maple syrup, honey farm on 5 acres or less.

Establish a 5-10 bed farmstay with a focus on agricultural-tourism and sustainable agriculture.

Establish a well-known haven (farmstay, snacks, drinks) for cyclists along one of Michigan's bike path networks.

All family-run

Values

I intend to harvest maple syrup in a sustainable manner and incorporate proven and recommended practices by MSU led research. I intend to focus only on sustainable low-volume production with an emphasis on sharing knowledge and education to visitors. I intend to be a heavy part of my community.

Vision

Create an environment for my children and community where quality trumps quantity. Create a space that is fun for visitors to see a working maple syrup operation as well as various fruit production and harvesting. Create a family run farm and farm-stay, agricultural tourism operation.

:) somehow mix in a haven for cycling enthusiasts to grab some of my produced snacks (maple treats and maple / fruit drinks). The vision is to be along one of the wonderful Michigan cycling path networks.

-----

While living in Italy for 3 years I was inspired by the focus on quality produce as well as the solid centralized support for rural and small-medium, family-run, agriculture.

I'm an engineer but would like to transition to full-time farming in the next 10-20 years. My goal is to run a 5 - 10 bed farmstay where fresh and quality food is served. Farm to table is the motto.  In addition I intend to develop a cycling network where I would cater to bikers passing through.
