Mentorship
The Michigan Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP) is a network to support transitioning and organic farmers with mentorship, learning opportunities and resources.
Farmers transitioning to organic are paired with experienced organic farmers for 40 hours of paid mentorship meetings annually.
What does the mentorship program entail?
- Mentorship training videos (5 hours for mentors, 1 hour for mentees)
- Mentorship contract and W9 form
- Mentors and Mentees will meet regularly, visit one another’s farms, attend educational events together, and ask and answer questions for a total of 40 hours per year.
- All participants will track meeting hours, complete evaluation surveys, participate in a community input meeting and attend quarterly check-ins with their assigned TOPP coordinator.
- Mentors are paid $3,000 and mentees receive a $500 stipend, annually, to attend an educational event.
