Family of 7 living on 4 acres (half is a wooded swamp) looking for land in northern MI to farm organically. We are serious about farming, actively gardening and raising chickens but want to learn more and expand. Our vision is to provide our community with organic food and teach others how to garden. As we grow, we will partner with other families to expand operations to include meat, dairy and open a “lost skills academy” to teach basic homesteading skills and pursue community-sufficiency.

We love Jesus, people, and the earth. We want our kids to be raised outdoors as much as possible and to appreciate the hard work and reward of growing/raising/preserving our own food. While we can grow a lot on our 1.5 usable acres of land, there is so much more we wish to do. My husband works full time as a machinist but would like to do full time farming eventually. I left my career in 2024 to stay home with our kids (3 boys and 2 girls - ages newborn to 8 years old).
In 2026, we are focusing on improving our gardening skills through watching videos, reading, and visiting local farms. I am also learning sourdough and attempting to grow cut flowers. In 2027, we plan to be regularly selling produce at farmer’s markets. By 2028, we hope to be acquiring more land and are open to either operating from our home base in Charlevoix or moving all operations there depending on location. If there is an opportunity for mentorship, we would love that as well since we are self taught gardeners / backyard chicken raisers.
