I’m a passionate farmer currently managing a commercial cannabis facility. Im new to west Michigan and the soil type is perfect for Lavender and most herbs and flowers. I’m looking to get back to my roots by starting my own Lavender farm. I worked and managed a Lavender farm in metro Detroit successfully for 7 years. I have wide ranging knowledge of conventional and organic farming methods to ensure safe and economical land use practices.

Goals, Values, Vision
My goals are to establish a 1-acre lavender farm within two years and selling fresh and dried bouquets, wreaths and sachets in bulk by the second and third year. Lavender takes hard work and at least two years to yield 4-8 lavender bouquets per plant.
I ran a farmers market tent for 5 years selling fresh and dried lavender at Plymouth, South Lyon and Milford.
I know with the right land with good well draining soil I’ll be able to achieve my goals. I have great connections to regional lavender farms to procure vigorous lavender cultivars in bulk. I also have connections to buy dried Lavender to kick start branding for the farm.
A huge goal would be to break soil late summer and plant 1000 lavender plants with big time blue, phenomenal, folgate and inspirational being our staple cultivars.
Muskegon boasts lots of tourists and Lavender is will sell well, I will make sure of it.

Farming Plans and Practices

Organic Practices
I’ve grown lavender in many different soils adding lime to heavy clay soils and intalling drip irrigation for well draining sandy soils.
Setting up irrigation for the farm will add tremendous value through less labor inputs.
Winter protection will also be of huge importance by providing frost blankets throughout winter.
I’ve used traditional pea gravel raised beds for many different lavender cultivars. While I’ve also used lots of different weed fabric as well. I’m open to any styles of farming but low input costs through implementation of automatic irrigation and organic amendments will be of main priority.
