Looking for land in St. Clair County to raise a herd of Katahdin sheep. We would like to use the flock to provide quality, pasture raised lamb and mutton to our community. We are hoping to find land that is a mix of pasture and woods in order to use the sheep to manage the quality of the pasture and help create silvopasture on the property. We have been raising sheep for 4 years for our own use, but would love to expand our operation to feed the community and transition from a 9-5 career. Along with sheep, we value education of the community with hands on activities, training opportunities, and providing organically grown plant starts.

Goals, Values, Vision
We are a family of doers. I grew up in construction and transitioned to automotive engineering, all along with a passion for sustainable living and homesteading. We have been involved in the homesteading movement with teaching, learning, and of course, failing. We love to employ organic and sustainable practices in all of our farming/homesteading/gardening/animal husbandry activities. We are not afraid of hard work, or getting dirty to see a dream become reality. We have been working hard to reclaim our current property from invasive plants and create more pasture for our sheep from the scrub-brush in our woods.
My goal is to have a sheep farm generating enough profit in 3 years to be self sustaining, while allowing us to expand to providing the community quality plant starts, maple syrup, etc., along with the education we can provide to families along the way. I desire to use the 100 herd of sheep, along with pigs, to clear, restore, and manage the land. I believe that these animals were created to help us be good stewards of the land we are blessed with. This management will include replanting the area with native and perennial plants to provide food and forage for our animals. We want to see every square foot of the property to be productive for us, the animals, and the community.
