About Me:
My name is Jeremiah Geise, I am currently finishing up my Master's in Animal Breeding and Genetics with a strong passion for sustainable agriculture. I am building a pasture-based homestead farm business, structured as an LLC, with a long-term goal of finding the right property to fully realize my plans. I currently own a herd of dairy goats, primarily working with Sables, Nubians, and crossbreds (Experimentals), as well as 14 honey bee colonies and I am ready to bring these wonderful animals onto the right property. Alongside the goats and bees, I am working on drawing up the plans to start a pasture-based duck operation. Right now, I'm looking for a landowner who wants to see productive use made of their land by someone who will actually take care of it.
What I'm Looking For:
Timeline: Looking to find a suitable property by August 1st, 2027
Location: Anywhere in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, this is flexible as I am currently completing my graduate program.
Acreage: Flexible. My current animal count (a small dairy herd, a duck flock, and a few hives) doesn't need much ground to start. At minimum I am looking for 2 acres of pasture space.
Infrastructure: Some existing shelter or housing suitable for goats is a big plus (doesn't need to be fancy), as well as an additional area that I can set up for hives and duck housing.
Utilities: Reliable water access, electric service, and legal road access for trailer and vehicle deliveries.
Housing: Open either way! Happy to live off-site if on-property housing isn't available.
Lease terms: Genuinely flexible. Open to cash rent, a share arrangement, in-kind trade, or a shared-use setup where you keep using part of the land yourselves.
Why Work With Me:
I have several years of livestock management experience, managing my families goat herd for the past 10 years. My footprint at this stage is small and low-impact (a small herd of dairy goats, a duck flock, and some hives), so I'm an easy "yes" for a landowner who wants land actively and responsibly used without a large-scale operation moving in overnight. I'm easy to reach, happy to do a farm visit before anything is agreed, and I take land stewardship seriously! This property would be a stepping stone toward my own farm, and I want to leave it better than I found it.
