Goals, Values, Vision
I love grain farming and I love working on equipment. I would love to run an operation and grow it as much as I can before handing it down to my boys one day. I value hard work, dedication, and dependability. I was taught that if you work hard and have patience and determination, you can accomplish anything. That philosophy has never let me down in the past. Anytime someone has told me I can't do something, I prove them wrong.
Working on farms, I have realized that it is the most rewarding and freeing career and I'm willing to stop at nothing to make it happen. I have been building up experience and skills from other farms I've worked on to accomplish these goals. I am very proficient in running large machinery. I know how the logistics of a farm work, and I know that sometimes you don't get to go to that Family event because you have crops to plant.
Some of the skills I've learned are: Working alone and as part of a team to accomplish projects, Large equipment preventative maintenance and repairs, GPS setup, hands on labor, business management, conventional tillage practices, Irrigation operation and repair, Harvesting and Planting operations, Grain Bin management and operation, Shop cleanliness, and much much more.
Some of the skills I would like to learn are: Welding, more experience repairing large machinery, business finances, managing people.
My perfect farm setup would be a large grain farm (corn, soybeans) but I have also toyed around with the idea of running cows on those fields in the offseason. I would like to have a large diversified farm with different income streams to mitigate risk in market prices. I would also like to get more into regenerative farming and organic practices.

Farming Method
Conventional
All the places I have worked has farmed conventional tillage. I know it works and is financially viable but I would like to try different methods of production. I would only farm with what is financially viable but also good for the soil. There has to be a middle ground somewhere or break even point.
