Farming Plans and Practices

Regenerative agriculture is a holistic farming approach that aims to restore and enhance the health of soil, ecosystems, and communities while producing food. It goes beyond sustainability by actively improving the land with each growing season rather than just maintaining it.

Core Principles of Regenerative Agriculture:

  1. Soil Health is Central
    • Increase soil organic matter and carbon sequestration
    • Reduce or eliminate tillage
    • Use compost, cover crops, and animal integration
  2. Biodiversity
    • Diverse crop rotations and polycultures
    • Encourage native species, beneficial insects, and microorganisms
  3. Minimal Synthetic Inputs
    • Limit or avoid synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides
    • Promote natural pest and fertility cycles
  4. Cover Cropping & Living Roots
    • Keep soil covered year-round
    • Prevent erosion and maintain moisture
    • Feed soil microbes continuously
  5. Holistic Livestock Integration
    • Managed rotational grazing
    • Animals are part of nutrient cycling and landscape management
  6. Water Management
    • Improve water infiltration and retention
    • Restore natural hydrology of the land
  7. Community & Farmer Resilience
    • Focus on local food systems
    • Economic sustainability for farmers
