Paul Krysik

My partner, Kay, and I would like to find a livable property with access to land and water for growing and grazing, ideally 5-30 acres in West MI. I have 13 years of farming experience, and Kay has 13 years of experience in education, community, & therapeutic gardening. As a technical service provider (Paul) and a special education teacher (Kay), our goal is to help build healthy people and community while supporting local schools and other farmers through our day jobs.

Preferred location: Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, Kent, Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Ottawa, St. Joseph, Van Buren

Desired Transitional Agreement: Farm Seeker/Farm Owner Partnership, Lease to buy, Sale

Desired Acreage

  • 1-5 Acres
  • 5-10 Acres
  • 11-25 Acres

Desired Infrastructure

  • Farmer Housing
  • Irrigation/Water Access

Goals, Values, Vision

We hope to run an operation while still holding other community jobs. Kay is a special education teacher, and Paul is an agricultural educator and a Technical Service Provider with USDA. Our vision varies depending on the property size and local markets, but a common thread is to practice our passions while sharing them with the community.

Helpful skills would be business planning, financing, accounting, and specialized construction.

Organic Practices

We plan to use many regenerative practices, such as cover cropping, intensive rotational grazing, and natural amendments and feed. Additionally, we plan to reduce our ecological impact by building and promoting the biodiversity of the surrounding area through the management of pollinator habitats, hedgerows, and native plantings.
