I grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan in Berrien County and attended Northern Michigan University for undergrad. During the summers I interned on farms across the country and internationally learning from small scale diversified operations. I am ready to put down roots and start my own farm in my home state. I’m looking for land, a home (or space to build a home), and would like to grow a diversified vegetable and fruit operation with animals in rotational grazing.

Goals, Values, Vision
Goals: Create more than just a farm - a place to connect to nature, welcome the community, and learn from the land. Create a productive and successful farm supporting the community through food and connection. Live and work on the land creating a homestead and a farm. Diversified vegetable operation, but not too diversified - specialize in 5-10 crops predominately, do less crops but do those exceptionally well and efficiently.
Values: Organic practices are foundational. Rotational grazing to improve the soil and not deplete. Minimal tillage, but some for necessities. Listen to the land, work with the natural environment, grow food for community. Crop successions to maximize output on an intensive schedule.
Vision: Working farm and homestead. Grow a family. Would love to welcome the community through U-picks, workshops, and occasional events. Being close to Lake Michigan OR Lake Superior is a must - the water is my home.

Farming Method
Certified Organic
I believe the certification process is valuable, but needs to make sense financially. It is a long term goal of potential farm and operation. Rotational grazing for regenerative farming. I have dabbled in Biodynamic but not a full convert. Minimal inputs, using natural ecological services to mitigate negative impacts and adapt to the changing climate. I studied sustainability with a focus on small scale farming for my graduate studies (graduated from Ohio University with a Masters degree in Sustainability, Security, and Resilience). I take a slightly academic approach to farming with a strong intuitive pulse.
