Rodanhisler Farms

My husband and I are young beef farmers in West Michigan. We currently run about 60 head of beef brood cows, bottle calves, and feeders to finish. We are looking for a 40+ acre farmstead in West Central Michigan to grow our farming operation. Our goal is to be able to grow our own row crops for livestock feed production, and to have more room to raise our stock more efficiently. Most of all, we want a forever home to share our love of farming with our children.

Preferred location: Allegan, Arenac, Barry, Bay, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Clare, Clinton, Eaton, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella, Kalamazoo, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Midland, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, Ottawa, Saginaw, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St. Joseph, Tuscola, Van Buren

Goals, Values, Vision

My husband and I both come from farming backgrounds. He grew up on a cash crop farm that was also a hub for several other small businesses. I grew up on a beef feedlot operation where we raised cattle from day old to finish along with the crops needed to feed them. Our future farming plans involve expanding and making our cattle operation more efficient. Currently we live on 15 acres, but farm 40 acres of hay total, and rely on purchasing grain from a local mill. We want to be able to grow our own corn and soybeans and grind our own feed. We feel that we can make a better feed product using ear corn that will result in better, more efficiently finished beef. We also need more barn space to better transition our groups of calves as they grow, and to raise our own chicken and pork. Most of all, we want a space to share our love of farming with our future children. Both of us were active in FFA and 4-H in our youths. We want our children to have the same opportunities as we did, and would be more than happy to have extra barn space for their friends' projects as well.
