Goals, Values, Vision

While I'm currently only looking for more space to grow what my family needs, I am hoping to fully move from my city house to a plot of at least 10 acres in the next few years. I plan to grow primarily corn, soybeans and silage as animal feed for personal livestock, and an extensive vegetable garden and small orchard and grainfield for the family's food. If space allows, and time permits, I'd like to put effort into making fiber flax work as a sale crop - it's a virtually untapped market in this country with a growing demand.

Organic Practices, Conventional

I am not beholden to an organic certification, but my values naturally lead me to an adjacent path. Old, heirloom crops, seed saving, crop rotations on a several-years scale to mitigate pest and disease without heavy chemical applications - These may not be the cutting edge of modern agricultural efficiency, but I wish to run a family farm, not supply Kroger.
