Vision & Future Farming Plans

Our vision is to build a diverse, productive homestead that feeds both our community and our future culinary dreams. Over the next few years, we plan to establish a sustainable operation raising goats, ducks, and rabbits, alongside a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. We also plan to integrate horses, utilizing them for farm work and land management alongside personal enjoyment. We want our harvest to go far beyond ourselves; our goal is to supply fresh, local food to our neighbors and ultimately fuel a farm-to-table restaurant that I plan to open upon completing my college degree. We are seeking a property where we can build this integrated ecosystem from the ground up or breathe new life into existing acreage.

Core Values

• Dedication to Learning: We do not take land management lightly. We have spent the last five years researching homesteading practices, animal husbandry, and agriculture, and we are committed to being lifelong learners who actively seek mentorship from experienced farmers.

• Sustainable Stewardship: We believe in working in harmony with nature. By pairing rotational grazing with intensive fruit and vegetable production, we aim to build soil health, promote biodiversity, and keep the land thriving for generations.

• Community Enrichment: We want our farm to be a source of nourishment and connection for the local community, culminating in a restaurant experience that celebrates local agriculture.

Skills & Strengths

Though this will be our first official homestead, we approach it with a powerful foundation of preparation and grit. Five years of intensive academic and independent research have given us a strong theoretical foundation in livestock care and crop management. Combined with my current college education, we bring sharp business planning, organizational skills, and a forward-thinking mindset to the operation. We are highly resourceful, physically resilient, and eager to learn the specific nuances of the land we take over. Our passion is backed by preparation, and we are ready to put in the daily hard work to make this vision a reality.

Organic Practices

We plan to utilize holistic, pasture-based organic practices to manage our homestead. Because our vision integrates livestock like goats, ducks, and rabbits with fruit and vegetable production, we will focus on closed-loop, regenerative systems. This means using animal manure to naturally compost and fertilize our crops, eliminating the need for synthetic chemical inputs.

To manage our pastures and support our livestock and horses, we plan to implement rotational grazing. This practice prevents overgrazing, helps naturally manage pests, and stimulates healthy, deep-rooted grass growth that protects the soil from erosion. We view the land as an interconnected ecosystem; our goal is to build long-term soil health, encourage biodiversity, and produce clean, nutrient-dense food for our community and future restaurant using strictly natural, sustainable methods.
