Tomm Becker

Dexter-area family exploring nearby land for a possible organic farm project. I have 15 years of experience including 9 years owning and operating Sunseed Farm, a successful year-round CSA, and 6 years managing production at the MSU Student Organic Farm. I also spent 7 years operating Nifty Hoops, working with growers on high tunnels, irrigation, site planning, and farm infrastructure. My wife Erica and I garden, keep hens and bees, and are looking thoughtfully at possibilities close to home

Goals, Values, Vision

We are exploring whether nearby land could support a thoughtful small or mid-scale farm project rooted in organic practices, good stewardship, and practical production. Our interests include vegetables, flowers, eggs, season extension, and possibly a small CSA or direct-to-family model. We value healthy soil, useful infrastructure, clear agreements, and a good relationship with the landowner. At this stage, we are looking carefully at possibilities rather than committing to a fixed plan.

Organic Practices

My farming background is in organic vegetable production, season extension, CSA, market and wholesale systems, soil health, and farm infrastructure. I am not currently seeking certification as a starting point, but any project we pursue would be based on organic practices, careful soil stewardship, crop planning, compost/fertility management, cover cropping, and efficient use of water, equipment, and season-extension structures.
