Vision for the Farm
We would like to lease our field for free in exchange for mowing the grass along the inner and outer perimeter of the fence, for protecting the fence from encroaching vegetation, falling trees, and deer-fence collisions, and for keeping the entire field at the level of grass, herbs, or other non-tree crops.
Past/Current Land Usage
Acreage description
Except for one 130-year-old maple tree that must remain standing and damage-free around its base, this level field is covered with ryegrass. The perimeter is fenced with four-foot hinged-joint field fence. The field can be easily accessed directly from M-22. No outbuildings, water, or electricity are available.
Description of the property’s current condition, current use(s), and past use(s)
For the past two years, a lavender farmer has planted a small section of the field. Prior to that, the field was used primarily for organic hay (alfalfa-grass mix) for ten years and couple years before that for organic ryegrass.
Additional Information
We'd like any crops to be organic (non-certified is fine).
Soil Type(s)
Sandy - with some very sandy spots and some wet spots.
