Acreage description

This property has an average elevation of 875 feet with one low spot of approximately one acre that is left fallow and is reported to include an artesian well. The rest of the field has a slight slope, average of 2 degrees.  The balance has been planted to row crops for many years.  There are no structures on the acreage.  The southern border of the property is forested and adjoins a forested acreage.  The northern edge is road frontage.  The east and west sides are additional row-crop farms owned by others.  Deer are prevalent in the area.

Description of the property’s current condition, current use(s), and past use(s)

This farm has been in row crops for many years.  The farmer who rents the land has rotated between field corn and soybeans.  For the past several years, he has planted no-till.  Otherwise, conventional methods have been used.  There is a fencerow along the east side and a partial fencerow on the west side.

Additional Information

I do not live in the Alpena area but have family close by.  I would like to find someone who wants to farm, would care deeply for this property and help restore the soil.

Soil Type(s)

Morgan Lake Loamy Sand (26 acres), Chinwhisker Sand (8 acres), Ossineke fine Sandy Loam (6 acres).
