Vision for the Farm
This is a family farm that has been farmed organically for many years until the current farmer announced his retirement from farming. The family would like to locate a farmer that utilizes organic practices that would be interested in renting the tillable acreage.
Past/Current Land Usage
Description of the property’s current condition, current use(s), and past use(s)
The property consists of two strips that run parallel to one another (and connect), with the larger strip nearly one mile in length. The tillable acreage was recently farmed, with the most recent crop (soybeans) harvested late fall 2025. The most recent farmer alternated between soybeans and feed corn.
Additional Information
There are a few areas located within the tilled land that has been protected from farming development. These include an area used for gatherings, camping and parking vehicles (including the farmer that rents the land) and an area utilized for growing prairie grass. It also includes two pass-throughs that allow one to traverse across the fields by foot or small vehicle. Acreages for these were not included in the tillable acreage. Thus, 120 acres remain available for farming.
Soil Type(s)
Loamy with sand underneath. Great drainage.
Transition Agreement
Looking to rent out the land, initially for a short-term lease. Once it is clear that the arrangement is working well for both parties, the family would consider the possibility of a longer-term lease.
