Vision for the Farm

We’re relocating our organic and regenerative growing operation, leaving 15 beautiful acres of land available for sale. Parcel includes forest, trails, organic growing spaces, meadows, and wildlife wetland / pond. It’s completely wild and organic, and was farmed by the Kellogg/Fischer family until the 1960’s (pre-pesticides), and then left to grow wild until we purchased it in 2020.

This carefully triangulated ag property is located in the award-winning Saline school district, with desirable Ann Arbor address and Lodi township taxes. While surrounded by Ann Arbor Greenbelt properties that have been mindfully maintained using organic practices (and will never be developed), you’ll enjoy the natural countryside vistas and the convenience of being centrally located on a paved road with easy access to Ann Arbor, Saline, and Dexter.

Acreage description

14.97 acres in total.  ~ 3 acres cleared for farming and recreation. ~8 acres are wooded.  ~4 acres are seasonal wetland.  Engineered septic system design for a 2 Bedroom house has designed.

Description of the property’s current condition, current use(s), and past use(s)

Property has an existing well (drilled in 2021); access to electric and high speed internet with cable box at roadside; new farm gate, gravel driveway with culvert, and parking/turnaround space at the road.

Eight existing 40-foot rows of organic matter will make the perfect home for your future plantings, along with ~10 additional acres ready for your ideal design. The NE 5 acres boast a beautiful park-like space under a canopy of mature trees, abutting a shared wetland pond that serves as a watering hole to ducks, geese, cranes, and more (the nature sounds at sunrise are unparalleled). Wild blackberries, rose hips, olive, and milkweed will grace your presence in all the right places, and the friendly Italian bees may be willing to stay with you if you’re interested in discussing the option with the resident bee-keeper (alternatively, the bees can be relocated without issue).

Soil types are Morley Loam (MoB), Miami Loam (MmB), Blount Loam (BbB) according to Washtenaw County soil maps. The terrain and soil type in the southernmost 5 acres did not perc, however we found an area that is appropriate for an engineered septic system that will accommodate a 2 bedroom sized drain field, and possibly a 3 bedroom.  WCHD has recommended that the BbB soil type area in the northwest portion of the property is the best location for a conventional design.

Additional Information

Two neighboring properties are included in the Ann Arbor Greenbelt, and the Greenbelt is open to putting some or all of the property into the program.
