Vision for the Farm

We purchased these 15 acres with the vision of establishing a farm that follows regenerative and organic practices to grow food for our family and eventually for sharing with the public through CSA or Farmer's Market.  We also planned to incorporate an educational component, educating youth and the general public of the importance of local food supply, regenerative practices, and carbon sequestration.

When purchased, this land was farmland that had been reclaimed by nature for the last 50 years.  The neighboring farms to the east and west both follow organic practices, which was incredibly important to us.  Being on a paved road was also a big positive.

Unfortunately, personal circumstances have caused us to reconsider our dream of building out this organic and regenerative space.  Ideally, we'd love to find a someone to carry out of vision and be good steward of the the amazing piece of property for generations to come.

Acreage description

14.97 acres in total.  ~ 3 acres cleared for farming and recreation. ~8 acres are wooded.  ~4 acres are seasonal wetland.

Description of the property’s current condition, current use(s), and past use(s)

Thus far we have improved the property by installing a culvert, installing a cattle panel front gate, installing a gravel drive, clearing ~3 acres for farming and recreation, clearing and mowing walking trails, and installing a well head used to provide water for the garden area in the front of the property where we grow an assortment of organic vegetables.  Additionally, high speed internet is available at the road, as is access to power.

The terrain and soil type in the southernmost 5 acres was determined to be not appropriate for a conventional septic system.  WCHD has recommended that the BbB soil type area in the northwest portion of the property is the best location for a conventional design.

The ~4 acre northeast portion of property is a wonderful wildlife environment.
