Vision for the Farm

See www.saarinenroad.com.  I'm 70 and time is catching up with me. I've demonstrated that this land - which formerly housed two families- can still be economically viable as a farming operation. But it takes lots of labor and equipment.  The land has already been passed on to my children and I retain a life estate.  They are living a conventional life in the pacific NW, and maybe they'll want to move here someday - and maybe they wont.  Meanwhile, I have to start cutting back and let things decline - as too many farm operations do - or I can partner with someone to keep this operation going.

Acreage description

This is a former dairy farm that was abandoned in the 1980's and has been partially restored by mowing hay, growing garlic, hops, raspberries and a small garden with wild apples here and there.  All of it grows well!   About half the property is wooded - mostly lowland hardwood.  It is the site of a wetland remediation project and has two artificial wetlands and a pond

There is too much here to write about.  I'd rather talk to explore the possibilities and then follow up with details if there is interest.

Transition Agreement

Farm Seeker/Farm Owner Partnership, Mentorship, Working arrangement with future partner

I have acquired some knowledge and have a system that works reasonably well here.  You have some knowledge and some energy.  I'm willing to explore ideas where we can work together for our mutual benefit.  The land is not for sale and I can't sell it as I only hold a life estate.  But the kids may want to sell it after I leave - or not - or they may want to partner with someone who likes it here.  That's not my call.  First step is to get acquainted.
